Pensilvania

Wrote on Dec 23, 2003.

I am in Pensilvania with my aunt, my not so little sister and my 9 year old brother.
It was about 2 and a half hours drive from Queens to this Holiday Inn hotel 5 miles from ski place we would go tomorrow.
I am not sure what are we going to do in this next 3 days except snowboarding and come back for the hotel pool.

OK, tomorrow is now.
Right when we got to the ski place, it was raining. Let me back up a little bit to last night. We all went to bed at about 11:30PM. I was still tired from driving and from the plane, but I could not sleep until 4AM! That was actually 1AM in the east bay.

At 6AM I(we) woke up from an alarm clock in the next room. And, there was nobody there. I called the front desk twice, finally the sound stopped about 45 minutes later because the guy said there were only him in the front desk and the maintenance just got in. Great…That was just a perfect start for our vacation.

So, without much sleep, and an unfortunate situation at the ski resort. The teenager suggest we went for ice skating instead.

“That was so much fun!!!” They said after we finished with ice skating an hour later.
I am happy that they were happy. For some reason, I felt that I was a host in this trip and I had to make them happy.

It is kind of hard sometimes to entertain the kids. Actually, my sister is not a kid anymore. She is a 13 years old teenager. That is on the verge between being a grown woman and a little girl. The kids these ages always embarrass by their parents. That reminded me of myself when I was that ages, too.

At 29 years old, I felt kind of old not being able to connect with the teenager. I did not like most of the songs she put on while we were driving. It was scary… What would happen if I have my own kids and not be able to know what they like, or how they think.

I have so much respect in their mother. She did a really good job raising these two kids alone. They are really good kids.
