print media is going to end?
Absolutely no effing way, as long as I still have a need to read while taking a dump. Besides, I love smelling magazines and books while reading. No way an LCD screen can compete with that!

I’ll have to agree with you on this…although not necessarily for the same reasons. Print media will forever have it’s place, although we may see less of it and in different incarnations. Publications may be going digital, but do any of us really think fliers are going to become obsolete? or t-shirts? or pamphlets?
Even if we only consider publications as print “media,” remember that TABLOIDS make up a hefty chunk of that. How digital is that going to get? I foresee you peeping at them at the your local supermarket check-out stand for a long time coming. Ultimately, all print media is advertising/propaganda in one form or another. The articles are there to get you to read the publication and look at the adverts. At least, that’s the publisher’s purpose.
Sure, we’re seeing a move to digital mediums, but it’s more of an integration or expanding on the established infrastructure. Take my example of fliers and t-shirts. Seen any floating around with either mention of a URL or a website printed right on it? Of course, it’s everywhere. It’s on billboards and on buses, although these mediums can be later digitized too.
I’m just saying that printed material will ALWAYS have it’s place. At least until we have true digital paper (sci-fi kind) and digital clothing. Imagine one outfit that you can change on the fly (watch an anime called Macross Frontier eps. 1 for reference). Of course, even these examples are impractical. Just my 2 sa-tharng.
