Powder?

Camino and Firefox failed. ![]()
OmniWeb, Safari and Shiira passed. :/
The bad news is I have to rely on Camino and Firefox for my web developing work. The others don’t support a live editor yet.

bedroom paint

Before and after a disastrous repaint of my bedroom. Well, I wouldn’t go so far and call it disastrous, but it didn’t turn out as we expected.
We want a Martha Stewart homey feeling, but it ended up looking like a really bad mediterranean type of room.
How did it turn out like this? It’s because we believe the sale person in the painting store rather than our designer friend. Our friend told us the actual color on the wall will be lighter than what you see on the color sheet. However, when we got to the store, the sale person told us otherwise. And we **cking believe her!
I guess we just have to adapt to what we have and change our decorating pieces to fit the color.

Safe and sound in BKK
I have nothing to add from my last post since it has been a little too long…
It’s pretty long in terms of both distance and time, actually. The US of A seems to be so far away and so long ago I’m afraid I’ll forget all about it soon.
That’s sad if you think about it. I’ve been in Thailand for less than 2 weeks! Not that I’m completely adapted to “Thai way of life”, but I’m getting close. Last time I came here was 5 years ago as a “tourist” with a few filthy American dollars to spend. I remember I was mad at almost everything Thai. I was mad enough to write a complaint to a newspaper about it. Not that it made anything better, but it actually made me more mad. (or madder? is that a word?)
It’s totally different this time. It took me no time to drive, eat and sleep like a real Bangkokean. (My wife is still adjusting really hard, though. She’s still living like a San Franciscan.) Talk about driving, I drive pretty crazy without feeling a thing about it. I could go all the way from the left most lane to the right most without much problems. Why? Because now I know that Bangkokeans are extremely skilled at avoiding driving accident. I could just switch lanes (with about 1 second of turn signal) knowing that the car in the lane I’m switching to WILL either break or speed pass me. The drivers are all really alert, like driving is their second nature or something.
Everything is crazy here. A lot crazier than the Bay area. It’d be nice if I could go back to the bay area… But it’s not possible now. I’ve spent a lot of money for the house already. I’m going to just settle here and be happy about my situation as hard…no..happy and hard should not be in the same sentence. I’m living in the moment and I’ll be happy. That’s what I’m doing.

The look
I’ve decided to not stick with any design for enaweb.com at all. enaweb will change as often as my mind.

WTB bluetooth headset
I’ve shopped around for a tiny bluetooth headset for my cellphone lately since I got this new cool phone from Samsung. However, I don’t like the idea of having people watching me talk to myself like a crazy person because nobody can see the tiny teeny in the ear headset.
Now, I got a solution! People won’t be looking at me thinking, “What a nutcase” anymore. mwahaha… My quest for the perfect bluetooth headset is over.
let me introduce my new cool gatget. TADA!

Real musicians have day jobs.
“Real Musicians have Day Jobs.” is probably my favorite bumber sticker I’ve ever seen.
You can’t really replace Musicians with anything else.
“Real Artists have Day Jobs.” No… That won’t work. If artists have day jobs, they would be a sell out to their peers. They won’t get any respect from their own industry. (I shouldn’t use the word “industry” with “artists” for obvious reason, but…)
Actually, haha, there’s no other right-brained professions I could think of that could replace Musicians. Musicians are specific enough, but not too specific, artsy enough but not too commercial, and easy enough to be ones, but not too easy so that everybody can be one.
I wonder if a painter gets instant satisfaction painting something for himself without showing it to anybody. I know musicians actually get that satisfaction just playing for themself. They get some kind of adrenaline rush or a dose of endorphine while playing it and after they’ve finished the songs.
Musicians play because they want to… simple as that.

OS X project
My next fun/educational project is to install Mac OS X on my PC.
Edit (10/22/2006): Oh noes! I don’t have SSE2 compatible processors which are Pentium 4 or Athlon 64 at least.

A guitarist from hell
A friend of mine emailed me
“…check this out ..go to kqed.com…sierrasoundstage….tommy emmanuel …omigod…..”
I did the search for about 10 minutes through KQED and PBS website without any success. I didn’t know who this Tommy was but I knew he had something to do with guitars or at least with music. This friend of mine usually just emails me once a month or less. He’s a guitar nuts and he knows a thing or two about music. I really had to find out about this Tommy Emmanuel.
I found out that he had a show at Sierra Center Stage 2 months ago. KQED probably aired the show a few days ago that somehow caught my friend’s eyes. Wow…now it caught my eyes and ears, too. I’ve just finished downloading the whole show at 4AM in the morning. wow…It doesn’t take a guitarist to appreciate this guy. It’s totally worth staying up tonight.
