What’s new with me?
I’m overseeing 3 website jobs, 1 big event organizer project, and 1 personal web project right now, with virtually no help.
I watched 5 feature length DVDs during the past 2 days…
Why? because that’s my way of coping with things when I’m in a crazy situation. haha I must be crazy.
Oh btw, I’m broke….mwahahahahaha

CushyCMS

I just can’t help but stop everything and write this blog. While I was searching for a Joomla replacement, I found this CushyCMS to be awesomely awesome.
Why? It’s just as simple as a CMS can be. No other simpler CMS than this one ever
As a designer, you can create a website using any tool you want, then define editable areas using ‘class=”cushycms’ tag to any page you want your client to access. Add your client account to CushyCMS. It’s done.

Once again, I dodged the bullet.
Once again, I delivered the job I was assigned to do. The job took 3-4 days from start to finish. It felt like 2 months to me. Why? Because I learned a lot more in those 4 days that could have taken me 2 months to learn. I went to bed at 6AM on the third and fourth days trying to figure out things I didn’t understand at the time.
With my luck, and help from good friends, I made it work on time. (Well, it was a day late actually..
)
What did I get from this experience? Other than the fact that you shouldn’t have accepted the job before you know exactly how to do it, and nothing good can come out of me pass 3AM? I should find more help!

Browsers war
In my search for a dream browser, the one that let me browse, work and blog, I thought I would give Flock a try.
My criteria is I want to a browser with Gecko as a rendering engine. I want to write my blog without going to the web interface, but from either my software or my browser addon. The browser has to be fast, light, and beautiful. I hate it when the interface gets in a way when I browse the web.
I’m writing this blog entry on Flock which seems to be OK, except!!!! there is no option to select a category? How is that possible? Is it hidden somewhere? If so, I can’t find it.

Asus WL-700gE
I’m writing a review for this great piece of … I don’t know exactly which I should call this thing, a wireless router, a NAS, a Web server, a print server, a Firewall, an iTune server, a bit torrent downloader!!!!11one11!?…
In fact, you can call call it whatever you want, but this thing can do all of the above.
The box looks ugly, the web interface is even uglier, but who cares? It works, and that’s all that matters.
I’ve been using it intensively for the past week as my BT downloader. There’s not many settings for this section, no throttle, no control like what you have in any BT software you find in your PC. But I think just feature alone is enough for me to buy it already.

must have mac apps
At first I was going to write about another great mac applications I was using. Then I found a blog post from VinodLive.com which was just as good as it gets in compiling free software for the mac. (and some has a PC version as well)
A few software that I found a lot of use are
Jing - record your screen action - It’s free for both Mac and Pc version.
AppDelete - uninstaller for the Mac
Quicksilver - of course, I can’t live without this great app anymore.

IE8 beta
IE8 beta is finally out, and it’s standard compliance. Good news for me, BUT!
MORE THAN 30% OF THE PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET ARE STILL ON THE DAMN IE6!
‘nough said.
*don’t forget Firefox 3 beta as well.*

fuck IE
I’m about to kill myself trying to get the website I’m working on to look good on IE browsers. (especially IE6)
Maybe I should do like felixnyc.com, huh?
This site best viewed in a javascript-enabled browser at 1024 x 768 resolution. Internet Explorer not recommended for optimal viewing.

function > aesthetic?
function > aesthetic? I’m talking about website design. A developing country like Thailand seems to think otherwise. Take a look at www.truecorp.co.th and you’ll know what I mean.
True corporation is a big ISP, Cell phone, Home Phone, Cable TV provider company in Thailand. They generally have a lot of information about their operation to show off to web serfers. However, they seem to forget what the website is for, and what do users need from visiting a website.
The other day, maybe my head wires differently than the rest of True internet user, I spent more than an hour to find a way to upgrade my DSL speed from True website. Why don’t I just call the customer support? I did and they told me I could (or have to) change my DSL plan/speed from True website. “Oh, ok, it’s good to know, thank you.” I told them.
An hour later, I finally found it hidden somewhere under the “Online” link. But, that’s not the end of it yet… Well, I filled in the form, select 3Mbps DSL package as my new plan, clicked submit. Bam!…
“Server actively refused your request” waht the fcuk!!?
I tried again, same message. I wasted close to 2 hours trying to do something I should have been able to do in under 15 minutes.
Well, I tried again the next morning, and it worked. Apparently, the automated process wasn’t automate at all. There was nobody sitting behind the server at 2AM in the morning to work on my request. That’s what I think!
Look at comcast.com and educate yourself, True people, or any Thai who keeps telling themselves and everybody else they are a group of new generation, with tons of degree from UK, US, FU, CK, whatever…
Simple things that needs to be changed and you still can’t do it right.
I think it is because we Thais don’t possess an ability to do anything step by step. We know a lot of things, but we only know how to do all those things at the same time, no other ways. multitasking, huh?
